Claussen cites the atmosphere of a stroll she took through Glen Lichd in the Highlands as the underlying theme for the album. Tunes of welcome and farewell; jigs, reels and airs; tunes inspired by love and politics. Claussen treats each piece with her characteristic attention to melody and subtle but emotive dynamics. With open accompaniments and just enough “crunch” in the harmonies to keep things interesting, The Road Home from Skye aims to inspire a few tears and a whole lot of toe-tapping.
